Keylamp Privacy Policy

Applies to the Keylamp browser extension (“Keylamp: Highlight Multiple Words & Keywords”) by Kanto Labs for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Last updated: 23 September 2026.

In short: Keylamp does not collect, transmit, sell or share your browsing data or the content of the pages you visit. Your keyword lists and settings are stored only in your own browser. The only time Keylamp contacts a server is when you choose to activate a paid Pro license key, and then it sends only that key.

1. What Keylamp stores, and where

DataWhere it is keptWhy
Your keyword lists, list names and options (colors, whole-word, match-case)Your browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your deviceSo your lists are there next time you open the browser
Sites you chose for auto-highlight (Pro)Local extension storageTo highlight automatically on those sites only
Your Pro license key, the purchase email returned by the store, and the date it was last checkedLocal extension storageTo keep Pro unlocked on this browser

This data never leaves your device except as described in section 3. Uninstalling Keylamp deletes it. You can also export or delete your lists at any time from the settings page.

2. What Keylamp does NOT do

3. The only network request: license activation (optional)

Keylamp works fully without an internet connection. If you buy Keylamp Pro and paste your license key into the settings page, Keylamp sends the license key and the product identifier to the license seller’s verification service to confirm the purchase, and re-checks it about once a week while Pro is active. No page content, lists or browsing data are included.

Licenses are sold and verified by Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment details under its own privacy policy. Keylamp never sees your card or payment information.

In Firefox, this is declared as optional “authentication information” in Firefox’s built-in data-collection consent: Firefox asks you before the first key is sent, and you can switch it off again in about:addons. Keylamp is published by Kanto Labs; Kanto Labs receives no data from the extension.

4. Permissions and why they are needed

Optional site access (asked per site, Pro only)Only if you add a site to Auto-highlight, the browser asks you to allow Keylamp on that one site so it can highlight when the page opens. You can revoke it at any time.

5. Children

Keylamp is a general-purpose productivity tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
